Andrew McCutchen Hits 3-Run Shot For 10th 20-Homer Season
Pirates Top Marlins 6-4
Andrew McCutchen hit a 3-run homer in the first inning, his 20th of the season, as the Pirates beat the Marlins 6-4 Friday night.
McCutchen's homer gave the Pirates an early 3-0 lead, and they never trailed.
The Marlins cut the lead to 3-2 in the third inning on a 2-run homer by Brian Anderson, but the Pirates got a run back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Newman.
Marlins Rally Falls Short
The Marlins rallied in the eighth inning, scoring two runs on a single by Miguel Rojas to make it 6-4, but the Pirates' bullpen held on for the save.
Impressive Season For McCutchen
The homer was McCutchen's 10th of the season, making this the 10th time in his career that he has hit at least 20 homers in a season.
McCutchen is now tied with Willie Stargell for the most 20-homer seasons in Pirates history.
The Pirates improved to 55-62 with the win, while the Marlins fell to 60-58.
